Game battles took place on the basis of the sports complex "Neman" in the regional center, where for two days a dozen teams were trying to find out the best one. The division into 4 groups of 3 squads with only the winners entering the final quartet gave each of the fights a playoff status, when any misfire deprives the chances of further struggle.
On the first day of the competition, the nuclear scientists easily dealt with the rivals in the group. Two dry victories over signalmen of PSDTU 8: 0 and Volkovysk electric networks 4: 0 witnessed an unconditional entry into the top four.
However the next day, the heat came not only literally, but also figuratively. Any of the semifinalists had the right to count on success, but luck still smiled at the nuclear scientists, who won the coveted title for the first time. In the semifinals, they “smoked” the opponents from Lida 2: 1, and in the decisive game Grodno heating networks were defeated - 1: 0. The cherished goal was scored by Dmitry Kuzmenkov.
- I am insanely proud that together with the team I was on the top, where Grodno residents did not allow anyone over the past 11 years, - the hero of the final shared his emotions. - We have a very well-coordinated team, in the conditions of the abnormal heat we constantly varied the composition, while maintaining the dynamics. I think that this was the decisive factor in the victory. I don’t want to highlight anyone, but it’s worth noting Evgeny Shchiglo’s good debut. It was with his direct participation, after a series of ricochets, that the victorious goal was scored to the uncompromising Lida power networks.
In addition to the above-mentioned players, Pavel Yanchevsky, Andrei Medvedev, Sergei Valkevich, Artyom Laskin, Vadim Zhelnov, Artyom Zakharkevich and team representative Vladimir Tashchyan also won the long-awaited victory.
