The energy complex of the Republic of Belarus is a strategically important sector of the economy, the activity of which is aimed at ensuring economic security and independence of our country, well-being and comfort of Belarusian citizens.
Thanks to round-the-clock hard and responsible activity of industry workers, consumers in the real sector of the economy and the population receive the necessary amounts of electric and thermal energy, natural gas, and peat fuel.
The year 2019 was marked by positive changes for the domestic energy industry. The result of the work of the organizations of the Ministry of Energy was an increase in electricity consumption in the country, an increase in export deliveries. Natural gas prices and electricity tariffs for the real sector of the economy have been reduced, which has become a significant contribution by power engineers to increasing the competitiveness of Belarusian industrial enterprises.
On a systematic basis, work continues to improve the efficiency of the operation of energy equipment and the reliability of energy supply. Belarusian power engineers have successfully completed the reconstruction of the turbine unit of Grodno TPP-2, the substation 330 kV Minsk-Severnaya, the construction of the substation 330 kV Metallurgicheskaya, significantly updated the infrastructure of electric and heat networks.
The construction of electric boilers and peak-reserve sources at energy supply facilities is being actively carried out as part of the integration of Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant into the country's energy system.
Next year will require the same responsible and conscientious work, high qualifications, readiness to apply advanced technologies and modern approaches to solving key problems. Among them are the launch of Belarusian NPP, the further modernization of electric and heat networks, increased energy efficiency, and improved sales activities.
I would like to express special thanks to industry veterans whose legacy lies at the heart of successful energy development. Your invaluable experience today helps the young generation of power engineers to master professional knowledge, improve skills, maintain and enhance our labor traditions.
Congratulations to the leaders and specialists of organizations included in the system of the Ministry of Energy, all those who ensure the reliable operation of the energy industry. Your work is a significant contribution to the development and strengthening of the economy of the Republic of Belarus.
