According to Yevgeny Kolesnichenko, deputy chief engineer for personnel training at Kalinin NPP, for many years the nuclear power plant has been a platform for training future nuclear specialists. “Practicing at KNPP gives them knowledge and skills that will be further applied in professional activities,” Yevgeny Kolesnichenko said.
The training program for Belarusian NPP included both theoretical courses and practical knowledge in the operation of systems and equipment of the reactor and turbine workshops. Within two weeks, students got acquainted with the specifics of electricity production at power units with water-cooled power reactors (VVER), visited the main production units of Kalininskaya NPP. On the basis of the training unit (TU) of KAES, for trainees, lessons were held in technical classes and on a full-scale simulator of the power unit control unit.
"The training of personnel for Belarusian nuclear power plant has paramount importance. The internship at the existing nuclear power plant with the same type of reactor installation plays a crucial role. In this regard, Kalininskaya NPP fits most. It has a convenient geographical location, equipped with a modern fleet of full-scale simulators, and an extensive training base. “These are workshops, classrooms and special training classes,” emphasized Oleg Semenovich, senior lecturer at the Department of Nuclear Physics physical faculty of Belarusian State University.
