July 3 is Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, but for Ostrovets it is also the day of the liberation of the city from the German fascist invaders, therefore the holiday in Ostrovets is celebrated on a large scale.
Festive events began in the morning, and ended after midnight. The workers of the first nuclear power plant in the country were also on the sidelines. In addition to the traditional participation in the theatrical procession, rally and laying flowers at the monument to the inhabitants of Ostrovets region who died during the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the labor collective were noted in other events.
The crew of Belarusian NPP became the fastest in the “swim on what it’s”, and in beach volleyball competitions Maksim Ocheretov together with one of Ostrovets residents (the name is still unknown) took the third place in the team from Belarusian NPP. And the military personnel and equipment of the military units standing on the defense of the nuclear power plant took part in the solemn passage of military units.
