“In accordance with the IAEA recommendations, as well as the national action plan on the results of stress tests of Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, a mobile diesel generator station was delivered to the site of the first power unit,” Olga Kozlovich said.
The NPP design defined technical solutions for connecting a standby diesel generator station if necessary. “During the operation of the first power unit of the BelNPP, the diesel generator station will be in a constant state of alert and, if such a need arises, will ensure the operation of the process equipment of the safety systems of the first power unit,” the spokeswoman explained.
According to her, at the present time, the first power unit is carrying out all the necessary work on preparing for the physical launch stage.
Belarusian nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 2,400 MW is being built under the Russian project near Ostrovets (Grodno oblast). The general contractor is the engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation. The commissioning of the first power unit is scheduled for 2020, the second - in 2021.
