The event was attended by about 150 representatives of trade unions and scientific community from 41 country. Trade union leaders and scientists got acquainted with the progress of the plant construction. Deputy Minister of Energy Mikhail Mikhadyuk took part in the plenary session.
Addressing the participants of the event, Mikhail Mikhadyuk noted: "Belarusian NPP is an important project of the "green economy". The commissioning of the plant will make a big contribution to the ecological component: reduction of greenhouse gas emissions will be about 7-10 million tons per year. This is about 2,400 new jobs directly at the plant itself and in addition - in the organizations that will serve it”.
The Deputy Minister stressed: "The main priority for the construction of the NPP for us is security, which is provided by three components. First of all, this is the quality of the project documentation. The project documentation is thoroughly analyzed by the Customer's specialists.
Second, it is quality control of the equipment arriving at the site during its manufacture and acceptance upon arriving to the site, as well as quality control of work performance. Moreover, before the beginning of the installation of heavy equipment, we make an additional inspection of building structures and foundations. Now, for example, before the turbine was installed at the second power unit, we evaluated the foundation of the turbine with experts. Representatives of the specialized organization confirmed that the foundation is ready for the turbine unit installation.
And one more important component is personnel training. This activity is carried out within the framework of the general contract for the construction of Belarusian NPP and the state program for training personnel for nuclear power. Today, we have almost prepared personnel for the first power unit in all major professions.”
