The Crew Performance Observation (CPO) mission took place at the training unit of FSUE “Atomflot” in Murmansk.
Experts studied current documentation, developed simulation scenarios to test the actions of icebreaker personnel from several projects, and observed personnel at work on a full-scale simulator, assessing their performance against best international practices.
"The goal of our mission was to gather a set of facts about what we observed and prepare a draft of focus areas for the subsequent mission. The key document in any peer review is the WANO Performance Objectives and Performance Criteria (POPC). This document is extensive and complex. Applying it effectively requires extensive experience. For me, the most valuable part of the mission was gaining experience in applying the POPC from senior colleagues. Regarding the application of the CPO methodology, after this peer review, I see greater opportunities for staff training in communication," noted Alexey Artemchenko.
