The first power unit of Belarusian NPP was taken out for the 3rd scheduled preventive maintenance on December 3

Written by Department of information and public relations

In accordance with international practice, scheduled preventive maintenance is carried out annually at each NPP power unit to reload nuclear fuel in the reactor facility and maintain the safety and reliability of equipment and process systems at the highest level. During the shutdown of power unit No. 1, highly qualified specialists will perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, defect detection and repair of equipment and process systems, including monitoring the condition of the base metal and welded joints of equipment and pipelines. These activities will be carried out in accordance with the approved schedules.

An important part of the upcoming work will be the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one - about 25% of the fuel assemblies with fresh nuclear fuel will be loaded into the reactor's active zone.

The scheduled preventive maintenance will be carried out by the repair personnel of Belarusian NPP with the involvement of personnel from Belarusian and Russian contractors.

The first power unit of Belarusian NPP was put into commercial operation on June 10, 2021 - in total, it generated 27.5 billion kWh of electricity.
